Fall is one of the very best times to visit Pigeon Forge, TN! The Great Smoky Mountain area is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage and comfortably cool weather. To help you make the most of your fall getaway, Mountain Breeze has put together the following tips for guests at our motel in Pigeon Forge Tennessee.
1. Try to Coordinate Your Trip with the Changing of the Leaves
Of course, the beautiful leaves are the main attraction for a fall vacation in the Smokies! With reds, oranges, and yellows, the Pigeon Forge area is absolutely gorgeous in the autumn. Pinpointing the exact moment the leaves change each year is difficult, but there are a few guidelines that you can follow to maximize your chances of seeing the best foliage.
In the lower elevations of the mountains, the fall colors usually reach their peak around the last two weeks of October and the first week of November. This is a great time of year for a scenic drive through Cades Cove.
If you can’t make it to Pigeon Forge during this period, don’t worry! The highest elevations of the Smokies start to change color earlier in the season, usually around late September or the beginning of October. We recommend heading to Clingmans Dome to see the foliage if you will be visiting at this time.
2. Enjoy Some Fall Flavors at The Old Mill
Our motel in Pigeon Forge Tennessee is just a 4 minute drive (or an 18 minute walk) from The Old Mill Square! This historic shopping and dining complex is one of the best places to find all of your favorite fall foods in the Smokies. In particular, The Old Mill is famous for its pumpkin flavored treats, including pumpkin butter, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin spice pancake mix. Fans of caramel apples will definitely want to swing by The Old Mill Candy Kitchen. Whether you enjoy your food at one of the square’s excellent restaurants, or take something back to your motel room, your sweet tooth will thank you.
3. Check Out the Harvest Celebration at Dollywood
In addition to being close to all of the great attractions on the Parkway, Mountain Breeze Motel is also just a 10 minute drive from Dollywood! During the month of October, the theme park marks the fall season with the National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration. This fun festival features free concerts from some of the biggest names in Southern gospel music along with displays of handmade arts and crafts from a number of visiting artisans. Trust us, this is one event you don’t want to miss during your vacation!
When you stay at Mountain Breeze Motel, you will be minutes away from all of the best things to see and do this fall.
